Frequently Asked Questions

a. A zine or fanzine is a fan made collection of work, usually consisting of art, writing, photography, poems, and other media. They can be digital, physical, or both, and are generally sold for a limited period.

a. This zine will include artwork and writings focused around a “Fantasy Alternate Universe” theme. These pieces will be produced by contributors within the Final Fantasy VII fandom. There will be no Cosplay (or other forms of Photography) accepted in this zine.

b. With the main theme being “Fantasy Alternate Universe”, just about anything may pop up within this zine (See the Specifications section). This digital zine will be SFW with a NSFW section.

c. The Main Theme again is “Fantasy Alternate Universe”. You can stay or move away as far as needed from the Canon FF7 Universe as long as the content is AU and has clear Fantasy Elements. You can even bring in Crossovers from other Final Fantasy Media.

a. Anything pretty much goes. Sefikura, Zakkura, Clerith, Cloti, CidVincent, RenoRude, Aerti, Clarret, etc. You may even bring in crossover ships as long as FF7 is the core focus. Example: Noctis x Cloud works.

b. All sorts of pitches and themes are allowed as long as they fit the theme. Feel free to play around and get creative.

a. Some pairings may not be to everyone’s liking. If this is the case, we ask you to either keep it to yourself, debate and discuss peacefully (if absolutely necessary), or avoid applying altogether if you absolutely cannot help yourself. We will have ABSOLUTELY NO SHIPPING DRAMA OR DISCORD.

b. Some pitches and themes maybe seen as “problematic” to some as well, even within the SFW part of the zine. We do ask that all characters be portrayed 18+ in Adult Content (even if its not explicit). Otherwise, this is a safe place for people to create and do whatever they want.

c. Any toxic, hateful, or abusive behavior will not tolerated from anyone.  If you pull something that warrants a warning, you will receive ONLY two before being booted. We will NOT be playing around. So if you apply, please try to avoid doing anything deserving of this consequence. We do not want to remove anyone if at all possible.

a. There will be SFW content as well as NSFW, which will be in a section marked as such. Final Fantasy VII itself explores dark themes, so even with the SFW sections, we can expect some darker themes even with the overall Fantasy AU theme.

a. All applicants must be 18+ at the time of applying.

b. 3 examples of your work will be required. These should highlight your work. These pieces are not required to be Final Fantasy VII, Fantasy, or AU related, but they should showcase your skill level, composition skills, and originality. Example pieces should be fully rendered with Color and preferably a Background. Example Writing pieces should be a minimum of 1K words.

c. Include a few pitches – not just one. The “Fantasy Alternate Universe” theme must be clear in these pitches.

“Copied over from Specifications”

(We are bringing “Fantasy to Final Fantasy”. This is an AU Project, meaning all pieces must take place in an “Alternate Universe”. You can really get creative with this theme as anything can be an AU as long as it deviates from Canon. Your project may take place within the recognizable world of Final Fantasy VII. Story and characters may be canon compliant to a great degree, but you must find some sort of way to bring in AU & fantasy Elements in some way. You may also play with brand new magical worlds of your own creation. You can stay or go as far from canon as you desire, including bringing in other characters from other Final Fantasy games—just please keep Final Fantasy VII a primary focus. The only major rule for this is it has to be Alternate Universe & contain clear Fantasy Elements.

Medieval, Modern, Sci-Fi, Royalty, Historical, Victorian (All with Fantasy Elements)

Creatures: Mermaid, Naga, Dragon, Shape shifter, Vampire, Werewolf, Elves, Fay, Angels, Demons, ETC

Gender changes, role reversal, Omegaverse, Sole Mates,

Character lives (instead of dies), Role Reversal,

Crossovers”

We are looking for a variation of material for this zine, so feel free to get really creative. We look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

d. Information & Check-Ins will all take place over Discord. An account will be required for all participants.

e. All communication will be handled In English. As long as that isn’t an issue, all applications will be considered.

a. Yes, you can apply for as many as you would like. If your application is chosen, we will select you as either writer or artist.

b. Merch roles can be added on top of the writer/artist role or stand-alone. Please feel out the Merch application.

a. Each contributor will be responsible for one piece for each role.  Exceptions may be made.

a. In fairness to all contributors, this Zine will not have any featured guests

a. All contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine and digital merch. Artist and merch creators will be allowed to turn their pieces into physical versions for their own shops after a certain amount of time has passed.  This is a completely Non-Profit project.

a. As mentioned before, this zine has a NSFW section. If you want to apply for that, please mark it in your application(s) and pitches.  Digital Merchandise is SFW ONLY.

a. No, all contributor pieces must be exclusively made for the zine. They may also not be posted until after preorders & shipment have been completed.
